How do you be a best friend to yourself? What does that even mean? Most commonly, people lead their lives according to their desires and act upon fears that may bring them some short-lasting joy, but mostly, it brings them sorrow and regret. Being your own best friend means to learn how to detach yourself from those desires that may lead your life to the unwanted and learn to lead your life in the direction that you actually do want to go to.
Many people will do certain things and take part of the activities that don’t enrich their life in any way but merely let them forget about their unhappiness and make them feel a bit “happier” by enjoying some pleasures. There is nothing wrong by enjoying the things that we have on disposal, but if those things destroy our happiness and imprison us, we have a problem.
We should be honest with ourselves and see if we actually lead our life in the wanted direction and try to achieve some particular goal or do we simply wonder around jumping from one pleasure to another and being totally enslaved by them. Living a life in such a way cannot deliver anything else but disappointment as we cannot attain any happiness that way.
Learn to be a good friend to yourself and listen to yourself. Say no to those things that stand in your way and you will surely achieve something great with your life.
