Mobile network access is important to Windows 8 since it will run on tablets, ultrabooks, laptops and tablets. Windows president Steven Sinofsky gave details on essential improvements to Windows 8, particularly in mobile network connections and network connections management. The improvements made are the following.

Windows 8 predecessor, Windows 7, is also compatible with mobile broadband but it is annoying to many about always required downloading drivers and management software. Now, Windows 8 has native drivers and management. Microsoft also addresses the problem related to downloading drivers by partnering with mobile broadband hardware experts to build up the Mobile Broadband Interface Model (MBIM) standard which develops a driver that will be compatible to all its offerings and will be updated through Windows Update.

As said at mobile news, Windows 8 has the ability to automatically detect your mobile broadband carrier through your device or SIM and set up your device for your account connection. If a user does not have a data plan, a Connect button will help user to choose desired carrier. After a user gets connected, Windows 8 will show a counter of data used on different connections to help user manage the bill.

Windows 8 can handle multiple data connection types allowing user to enable and disable different Wi-Fi, Bluetooth radios and mobile broadband. It will also boast airplane mode which disables all radios easily.

Interface that will display all Wi-Fi and mobile broadband connections at the same time is one of the best features of Windows 8. It gives users convenience to select the best option. It remembers the selected networks in an ordered list to give users access to networks recently joined and forget those from which the user manually disconnect. It also has the capability to understand the limited bandwidth allocation of a certain network by changing configuration settings and delaying download of non-security based Windows Updates until Wi-Fi is within reach.
Windows 8 will be way fast in resuming than Windows 7 since it only needs a second to establish network connection.

It is very apparent that Windows 8 gives more importance to mobile use than Windows 7 not to mention that it is way fast in rebooting.
